Air Lifting

Helicopters Otago offers a complete helicopter aerial lifting operation, whether it is long line lifting of bridges, through to fencing supplies or feeding stranded live stock with remote hooks, we have the experience and equipment to do the job quickly and efficiently.

 

Survey Work

All types of survey work are undertaken throughout the South Island.

Repeater Repair Operations

Repair personnel can be airlifted at a moments notice to any repeater locations.

Tower Construction

Pictured here is our BK117 constructing a 90 metre tower in 9 separate sections.

The BK117 is an ideal machine as it is twin engine and provides an extra safety margin for the men working under the helicopter.

Before undertaking this job the men were fitted with our own voice activated communications. This allowed the men on the tower to talk directly to the pilot, which was essential when talking down the distances for the poles to meet. This allowed a very difficult job to be run in a safe and organised manner. We have also constructed chair lift towers on Cadrona, Mt Hutt, and Coronet Peak Ski Fields.

Gravelling and Concreting

We have many options available for gravelling and concreting. We have designed our own buckets which can be controlled from either the helicopter or by the groundcrew.

• BK117 - maximum lift of 1350kg
• Bell 206 Long Ranger – maximum lift of 650kgs
• Bell 206 Jet Ranger – maximum lift of 450kgs

Frost Protection

We have eleven helicopters available for frost fighting. Our helicopters and pilots meet CAA standards for frost protection and night flying. We have hand-held radios for ground to air communications and we also supply if required our own frost protection lights. All of our machines are fitted with GPS.
